2nd Annual COMP Cams Grass Root Nationals Presented By MidSouthRacing.com Details Released

Memphis, Tennessee (8/20/08) – COMP Cams, the absolute leader in aftermarket valve train accessories, and MidSouthRacing.com have teamed up once again to present the 2nd Annual Grass Root Nationals at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas on Saturday, October 4th, 2008.

In 2007 the inaugural COMP Cams Grass Root Nationals were held.  A great turnout of fans and race cars, including 42 Street Stocks and 25 Wingless 305 Sprint Cars turned out for the event.  Jeremy Dalton from Byhalia, Mississippi claimed the win in the Street Stock division with Eddie Gallagher topping the Wingless 305 feature.

For 2008 the event is back and will be even bigger.  The 2nd Annual COMP Cams Grass Root Nationals Presented By MidSouthRacing.com will once again headline the 305 Wingless Sprint Cars and Street Stocks.  The 305 Wingless Sprint Car portion of the show will be sponsored by Racing Head Service (RHS) and will include a Dash For Cash sponsored by the Sun Dial Shirt Company.  The feature event will pay $1,000 to win and $100 to start in a 25 lap event with all payouts for positions throughout the field doubled from their normal, weekly amounts.  The Sun Dial Shirt Company Dash For Cash will have a total of purse of $500.  COMP Cams will be providing a $250 product certificate as the Hard Luck Award for the 305 Sprints Cars.  In addition, Day Motorsports will be sponsoring a $250 product certificate for the Hard Charger in the feature event.

The Street Stock portion of the show will be sponsored by TCI Automotive and will include a Dash For Cash sponsored by Bird Fasteners.  The Street Stock feature will also pay $1,000 to win and $50 to start in a 20 lap event with all payouts for positions throughout the field doubled from their normal weekly amounts. The Bird Fasteners Dash For Cash will have a total purse of $500.  Holley Carburetors will be sponsoring a $250 product certificate for the Hard Luck Award in the Street Stock class, and Day Motorsports will provide a $250 product certificate for the Hard Charger in the feature event.

New for 2008 will be the MidSouthRacing.com State Challenge, where the top finishing driver in the feature event from each state represented in the Street Stock division receives a $100 bonus.  Also, new for 2008 will be MidSouthRacing.com Mystery Position bonus for the 305 Wingless Sprint Car feature.

In order to be eligible for the contingency prizes in each division, drivers must display the participating decals on their race cars.  All decals will be provided.  In addition, racers in both the 305 Sprint Car and Street Stock divisions will be provided with goody bags containing decals, sample items, apparel, literature, and more.

Winners of the two respective features will receive large trophies, and the top three finishers in each feature will also receive product give certificates from COMP Cams.  In addition, each winning driver will be profiled in a feature article in Circle Track Magazine.

Fans should also note that several giveaways will be made throughout the night via their general admission ticket number.  Giveaways will include shirts, gift certificates, race tickets, and much more!

There will be no entry fee for this event, and admission will remain the same as weekly shows with $12 Grandstand Admission and $25 Pit Admission.

Street Stocks and 305 Wingless Sprint Cars will be joined on the program by 360 c.i. Winged Sprint Cars.

To make this truly a unique event, the Street Stocks and Wingless 305 Sprint Cars will time trial (1 lap qualifying), and heat race lineups will be determined via the times.  The fast qualifier in the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division and Street Stock division will each pull an inversion pill immediately following qualifying that will determine the number of cars to be inverted for the heat races.  Anywhere from 0 to 4 cars may be inverted for heat race action.  Heat race winners in the two respective divisions will be part of a dash, where their line up is determined by a Cheater’s Draw, where drivers pull a pill for a starting position and then have to give the starting position to another driver in the dash.  The finishing order of the dashes will determine the starting order for the top two rows in the feature events.

In technical news, please note that the top three finishers in the Street Stock division will have the heads on their engine pulled and inspected, and the top five cars will be held until inspection is complete.  For complete rules for all divisions, please visit www.RiversideInternationalSpeedway.com

Welcome to the 2008 Racing Season at Riverside.

We have completed a lot of work over the winter and there is a lot of people we would like to say thanks to, who have stepped up and helped us get ready for the 2008 racing season. Without your help and support we could not be where we are today.

A big thanks goes to Mr. Bill, our surface expert, for having the track in such great shape for this time of the year and with as much rain as we have had. Also Thanks to Washington Construction, Dennis Shepard Excavating, Bret Stanton Trucking, Willie & Absolute Iron, Espinoza Construction, Kevin Davis Drywall, and Chris with Razorback Concrete. Also to Bill Jackson & His dad, thanks so much for your help.

Thanks also to Kenny Conrad of Conrad Sand & Gravel, Hertz Rental & Marshall Skinner for Equipment Furnished. Also Lowes and Home Depot have helped us as well.

A big shout out goes to Parts Plus for signing on as a main sponsor for this season and we will be releasing a complete list of contingency awards soon.

Also we cant forget Steve Tucker and Delphi for their continued support of our facility and its programs.

We are looking forward to another great year of Saturday Night racing with all our drivers, teams, and awesome fans. Thanks so much for your continued support.

We are utilizing the Raceceiver & Transponders for all our races. We will be selling both of these items basically at the lowest price anywhere and if you buy them from us some of the money will go back into the drivers point fund.

We Are using the RMS Race Management System for scoring software for the transponders which are manufactured by by Westhold Corp. Our system will be set up that will create lineups, configure points and awards, and do all the data saving we will need. This will be an exciting addition to Riverside International.

The transmitter is affixed by one of two types holders emits a unique identification signal which is picked up by the in-track detection loop

The RACEceiver is pre-programmed with 1600 channels, 450-470MHz range. It allows you to listen to race control to aid in lineups, and notifications of cautions, and any racing condition much faster and much more efficient than using hand signals.

The new RACEceiver 1600 has all the features fans have loved for the past year---small size, great price, and great reception---with one BIG leap forward in functionality. The RACEceiver 1600 is perfect for NASCAR and BUSCH races, but now has added capacity for virtually all TRUCKS, INDY, PETITE LEMANS, and your local short track!

ALL racers will be required to have both the above items to race at Riverside this coming season. You are urged to purchase these, but we will have them available for rental as well. Rental fees for these are $10/ea per night.

Prices If Purchased Separately:
Raceceiver's:
$110 - Comes with basic ear buds - or $180 comes with advanced drivers ear buds.

Transponders:

If bought together, $300 - with basic ear buds;  or $350 - with advanced ear buds.
